A Tour of The Clock Tower

The Bedroom

The high level wooden structure that you see in the top left of the photo houses the clock mechanism that gives this pretty little house its name. It is still in working order and would chime every quarter if we wound it up. Now this is a bedroom, we felt that maybe the noise would be unwelcome!

The bed frame is an 18th century French sleigh bed covered (by me) in antique Vichy check fabric that I quilted to give it strength. The mattress is hand tufted and new. We use silk mix bedding because it is non-allergic and feels very comfy so the mattress is covered first with a topper, then with a protector. The duvet and pillows are also made of the same silk mix and feel like clouds. We use cotton bedlinen that is laundered to pristine whiteness. We also provide a bath sheet and a hand towel for each guest with additional hand towels in the loos.

The Sitting Room

You step straight into the sitting room from the path and the first feature you see is the massive inglenook fireplace where the head gardener used to warm himself after a day out in the fields with the dogs. We have added a log burner to make having a real fire easier and we supply plenty of fuel to keep it going. However, there is modern central heating, too, for instant and constant heat.

As well as comfy seating, the little sitting room has a dining table and an alcove where you can curl up and read a book.

We provide a selection of books, a TV and Wifi to keep you connected and entertained.

The Kitchen

It may look vintage with its maple worktop and butler’s sink, but the kitchen contains every modern appliance that you could want to making cooking in The Clock Tower easy and pleasurable.

The gas cooker has 4 rings and 2 ovens and there is a separate microwave if you would prefer to simply heat something up. We provide a large fridge/freezer that swallows up plenty of food and booze plus all the utensils, crockery, glassware, cutlery etc that you would need to cook for a family.

Outside

The Clock Tower has its own parking space and little patio area at the end of the enclosed kennel run you see in the photo where we are shortly installing a hot tub for 2.

We are also creating a designated private garden at the rear of the house.
